Animal Welfare

Animal welfare is a subject that ignites a strong emotional reaction because of bond  between humans and animals.  Animal welfare is a major societal issue and we should always be cognizant of the fact that use of animals in research, teaching or testing is a privilege governed in part by the societies values.  Animals should always be treated humanely and with respect.  Animals that are treated humanely and well cared for tend to react positively with humans.  In a research setting this could translate into fewer experimental variables and less chance of injury to the individuals working with animals or to the animals themselves.   Below are additional resources on animal welfare.
